Dave's musical career began shortly after his move to Folkestone in 1978 when he joined local Hard rockers "Tomahawk" (Then provisionally called "Ghost Dance"). After a couple of years of popular local success (but little critical acclaim) including an appearance at local top venue the Leas Cliff Hall, Dave left the band and formed "Zenith". His first collaboration with long-time songwriting partner Richard Ashbee.. After about a year, "Zenith" collapsed and Dave Formed "Rough Diamond". In late '84 that band also folded and Dave rejoined Rich Ashbee to form "Lazy Toad".
